I love Faure, nice singing, a little pitchy on the high notes, which is weird, and I dislike the “artsy” shifting images out the window. Perhaps they were meant to reflect the lyrics, perhaps not….I always look these things up, but the extended meaningless introduction lasting almost 2 minutes made me tired of the whole thing.

Lovely concept "the curtain opens before the curtain really opens" 16:44. I have never really thought about that before - and Lehmen is totally right. It was a stroke of genius!

This record is just a little fast. If you can turn the speed down about a half a step in pitch. It will sound more like the record does on a phonograph. I don't know why this happens but I do notice that an awful lot of records on UA-cam are pitched too high. I just played the record for the first time and Scrappy sounds much better a half-step lower. If you can find an adjustable speed turntable, it will be worth your while for listening to 78's. Since so many records were recorded at different speeds, It's best to play a record fast, try it again at a slower speed moving the speed up until you find the speed that sounds right for the record. Use your ears, that's why you have them. 🐸
